The forensic psychiatric center in Ghent is the first high security facility in Belgium to provide customized care to internees in a clinical setting. FPC Ghent is concerned with people who, on the one hand, have a psychiatric problem and, on the other hand, committed an offense and have to deal with the consequences. The treatment center offers customized care in a clinical setting to internees with a psychiatric disorder or a mental disability. Risk management is central to the treatment. The aim is to prevent relapse in crime behavior and to re-socialize and reintegrate patients in a safe and responsible manner. In this way, FPC Ghent contributes to a safer society.
